Freelance Writing Student Life

While not freelance writing in the purest sense, I worked for four years for Student Life, the independent, semi-weekly student newspaper at Washington University in St. Louis.

I served as a Staff Reporter, and held paid positions as an Assistant News Editor, Opinion Editor, Circulation Manager and Photography Director. I wrote more than 150+ bylined stories and published 75+ photographs.

Among the news stories I covered was the hiring of Chancellor Mark Wrighton.

In 2000, while serving as an alumni advisor to Student Life, I contributed to the Student Life online History Book – produced in celebration of the newspaper’s 120th anniversary – a reflection on one of the most newsworthy stories I covered on campus, the carjacking, rape and murder of a student.
